This is dedicated to our former chairman Dr. Mahmoud Rohani

Dr. Mahmoud Rohani was born in 1936 in Mashhad, Iran. He has a brilliant past in scientific activities and received, with very high distinction, his degree of Dr.P.H. from University of Brussels. He specializes in the field of Medical Statistics and Epidemiology and holds an international certificate in that area from the same university. He is an active professor at the School of Medicine and member of the Board of Trustees at Mashhad University of Medical Sciences.

Dr. Rohani was the Minister of Welfare from 1981 to 1982. He has been the head of the Board of Trustees of Imam Reza (AS) University for four years. He is also a member of the Board of Directors at the Islamic Research Foundation of Astan Quds Razavi and was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Persian Encyclopedia Foundation for 8 years.

He is the writer of the book Al-Mujam, which is a Statistical Dictionary of Quranic Words. Some of the achievements of this book are:

-          Book of the year in Iran (1990)

-          Book of the universities of Iran (1991)

-          Top prize of 3^rd Fajr Festival in Iran (1991)

This book is also praised by scientists and researchers from Germany, South Africa, Algeria, The United States, England, Bahrain, Pakistan, Tanzania, Turkey, Trinidad, China, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Senegal, Sweden, Syria, Soudan, Ghana, France, Philippines, Canada, Kenya, Lebanon, Poland, Malaysia, Nigeria, and India.

He was the chairman of the Iranian Journal of Basic Medical Sciences from 1997 to 2008. Now, he prefers to focus on research related to Al-Mujam. We wish him success in all his endeavors.
